It’s our second day, we’re back at IKEA because we’re not clear on what we really need. Where is my list? We buy more things and take another taxi home.
We make it to Winderfeldt Markt and drool at the selection of fresh berries, veggies, olives, honey, bread, fish, flowers and everything else an open air market has to offer. We don’t know where to start so we just buy what we think we need beginning with green beans, baby bellas, potatoes, garlic, tomatoes, cucumbers and watermelon. It’s been so long since we’ve had a homemade dinner. We decide to make steaks for dinner, but we’re hungry at the Markt so we gravitate to the smoke coming from a vendor.
We decide on grilled mackerel. Oooh it smells yummy!
Odd finds beer. He is happy!
I’m not confident enough to use the little German I know yet, so I continue to shadow Odd and say, “Danke Schön” and “Schöne Tag”. And a smile goes a long way, I am reminded.
